For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendants.

The Oasis Project exists to equip young adults in Haiti to positively impact their families and communities to the glory of God.

This is accomplished by focusing on three critical development areas: providing spiritual development through mentoring, teaching life skills through goal setting and coaching, and facilitating job-readiness through educational opportunities.

Why We Exist

Empowering the youth of the Lifeline Center for Children is an important step in the transition process for children who have grown up in the orphanage setting. While Lifeline does its best to provide a safe, nurturing atmosphere for all of the children there, the facility and staff lack the capacity and ability to fulfill all of the societal duties and roles that would traditionally be passed on within a family unit.

Upon completing program requirements, Oasis students will be self-sufficient, confident, employable, spiritually mature individuals who will be equipped to break the cycle of poverty, stem the tide of orphan creation, and fan the flame of hope in their generation.

Partnership

The Oasis Project is seeking to partner with individuals, families, groups, and congregations to provide ongoing support to these young men and women as they transition from life in an institutional setting to a life of successful independence within the community. With your generous support, each student will be able to continue their education while also receiving food, shelter, and basic medical care.

Our annual budget is $105,500 and the average cost to sponsor a student in Haiti is $150/month, with university students requiring a bit more to cover their tuition and living expenses each month.

spiritual development

It is important that children and youth are not forced to accept certain beliefs. Rather, they should be guided in their relationship with God and in their understanding of spiritual truths and the Bible.

The goal for the spiritual development within the Oasis Project is for the youth to adopt and take ownership of a Biblical worldview and develop a heart that loves God and loves others.

life skills

It goes without saying that daily life in Haiti looks very different from daily life in the United States. The youths entering this program have lived semi-independently for a majority of their lives, learning to meet their own immediate needs, but not always in ways that are sustainable.

One goal of the Oasis Project is to give these youth the tools necessary to not only survive, but thrive in their environment by focusing on the ability to maintain one's health, manage personal finances, and utilize local resources. Instruction and oversight for these skills are provided by Haitian house parents.

Education

No matter where you go in the world, education is the key to the future. Therefore, education is one of the key components of the Oasis Project. Students are supported financially as they finish high school, then they will be guided into a career path - choosing either a professional school where they can quickly learn a trade or pursuing a degree at a local university. Oasis staff members work very closely with each student to assess both goals and academic ability to help each youth choose the path that promises the greatest chance of success for each member of the program.
